Do you know a social innovator working to create local abundance through entrepreneurial solutions?
The Elfenworks Foundation is now accepting nominations for the In Harmony with Hope® award. The criteria are simple. Tell us about someone, in at least 500 words, who is thinking outside the box and attempting to address social problems in this country. We are interested in individuals who are developing creative, new solutions to age-old problems. Past award recipients have been honored for their work in health care, housing, child welfare, gang intervention, jobs training and integrating former inmates into society, urban agriculture and food distribution. What they all share is an entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated proven results, and significant impact.
Letters of recommendation should be included with your nomination to give testimony to a long-standing commitment to public service.
Please give consideration to:
- Length of service
- Scope and impact of work
- Degree of difficulty and obstacles encountered
- Imagination and innovation; having the vision to make long-term change possible
The Elfenworks Foundation uses the Seven Pillar Methodology first laid out by former president Jimmy Carter and later adapted by founder Dr. Lauren Speeth to evaluate all potential award candidates. The seven criteria are
- don’t listen to naysayers
- fill a chasm where you don’t duplicate the good work of others
- go only where your special skills make a difference
- work in partnership
- care about the results more than who gets the credit
- constantly measure for course correction, and
- and foster a work environment that allows for bumps along the path to great successes.
Each nomination undergoes a thorough investigation that includes research and speaking with individuals who have worked with the nominee. The final selection of candidates is made by the foundation’s Board of Trustees in the spring of each year. Award recipients are awarded a cash grant and honored at a special ceremony held every fall in the San Francisco Bay Area.
