Student filmmakers have shone a spotlight on health and mental health with the following winning films: 

  • Battle Buddy: Film Description: When veteran Bill Stump returned from 20 years of service, he faced the toughest battle of his life. K9s for Warriors was there for him. And his new canine battle buddy saved his life. Film By: Aakash Bakshi Winner: Second Prize, 2017
  • Ink: A very creative representation of how our words can leave a lasting impression. Words can hurt. Film By: Joss Serrallier, University College London. Winner: Honorable Mention (UK) 2015
  • Stuck in the Place In Between: A young woman bravely shares her perspective on mental illness; what it’s like to be stuck ‘in the space in between.’ Film By: Samantha Armstrong, Goldsmiths, University of London 2014. Winner: Honorable Mention (UK) 2015
  • The Difference: This film is a call to conscience, illustrating how, at some moment in time, we all have the opportunity to step in and make a difference in another person’s life. It shows the difference that can be made by even a small choice, when we choose not to look away. Film By: Sergio Acuña, Georgia Institute of Technology. Winner: Second Prize, 2013
